Zane began serving as our Lead Pastor in June 2022. He previously served as the Minister at Cottonwood Church of Christ east of Abilene, Texas, and the Programming and Operations Director for public radio station 89.5 KACU in Abilene. He holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Master of Divinity from Abilene Christian University.

Zane’s ministerial philosophy is to “smell like sheep” and to be around the people of the church. One of the best things about a smaller church is the ability to develop a deep, strong, and loving community. He usually preaches from the text of the Bible using a Christological framework, but will also do occasional topical series. He takes a learning approach to the Bible and encourages everyone to read it and study it for themselves. Along with that, he believes that the church’s unity is in the person of Jesus Christ, not in our individual interpretations or preferences. Overall, Zane just wants to see people grow in their love for Jesus through spiritual practices, a loving community, and service to God’s world. He and his wife, Jessie, also serve together as our Youth pastors.

Zane and Jessie have a son and a daughter, Shepherd and Marigold. They also have a “West Texas White Dog” lab-mix named Roxy.
