What Can I Expect?

We know how hard it can be both to make the decision to visit a new church and to actually attend for the first time. We want you to feel comfortable and welcome at all times and hope that any questions or concerns you might have will be answered below.

Also, please free to email us any question you may have!

Service Times

If you or your family are anything like ours, getting everyone ready to leave the house is not always fast and stress free. We get it.

We do our best to begin our services on time, but sometimes we start a couple minutes late. Don’t stress about being early or late, your welcome either way. We’re just glad you’re here to worship with us.

Two Sunday Worship Services: 8:45 AM & 10:45 AM

Parking

We have two driveways and two parking lots, and not a very noticeable front door. So, it can be a little confusing for a first visit. We promise, you’ll get used to it.

We are located on the corner of Elkins Rd. and Sweetwater Blvd. right across from Clements High School. There is a driveway off of Sweetwater Blvd. just after the intersection that has a smaller parking lot that we reserve for visitors. Feel free to park there even if it looks like no one else is!

We also have a larger parking lot in the “back” of the church that comes off of a longer driveway off of Elkins Rd. This is where most of our regulars park.

Park wherever you want and come in any door. We’ll find you!

Atmosphere

“Come as you are” is not an empty cliche at our church. You will be welcome in whatever clothing you find most appropriate. Most of our regulars dress casually, although you may find a few who take a more “business-casual” approach.

We’re confident that God cares much more about your heart than the formality of your apparel. Dress comfortably so that you can worship deeply.

Worship Details

Both of our worship services are identical in every way except for style of worship. We sing hymns from a hymnal accompanied by a piano at our 8:45 service and we are led in contemporary worship songs by a full band at our 10:45 service.

Each Sunday you can expect the same basic elements of our service:

  • Worship through Song
  • Worship through Preaching
  • Worship through Communion (Lord’s Supper)
[We practice Open Communion – which means all are welcome at the Table]

Our services usually last about an hour.

Children's Ministry

We are proud to offer various Children’s Ministry opportunities during our second service (10:45 AM).

First – please know that all of your children are always welcome to stay with you and join us in worship in the sanctuary. We desire for you to do whatever makes your family most comfortable and able to engage in worship. The sight and sounds of little ones do not bother or distract us – actually, they remind us of the blessings of God and the reality of life in the real world!

We do offer three opportunities for children to learn about the love of God with in age-appropriate ways and with friends their own age.
1 – Nursery (infants through 2/3 year olds)
2 – Pre-K through 1st Grade (3/4 through six year olds)
3 – Elementary (6/7 year olds and above)

There are signs throughout our building directing you to the appropriate rooms for your children. You can expect a friendly greeter to help you navigate the finding and checking in of your children if you so desire.

All of our children’s ministry volunteers are trained, background-tested, and committed to modeling the love of Jesus they are creatively teaching. When you check your child in, we will ask a few important questions like: Do you feel comfortable with them playing outside today? Do they have any food allergies? Do they have any special needs or skills that are noteworthy? We have many children with very severe allergies and pride ourselves on being able to accommodate children with allergies in a way that many churches are unfortunately not equipped to deal with.

Our middle and high-schoolers stay with us in the sanctuary during worship. We’ve found over the years that not only do they enjoy it, but it is great spiritual formation as they grow into young adults.

Youth Ministry

Our middle and high school youth (SWC YTH) meet every other Sunday evening at 5:30-7 PM here at the church. They have their own large room (the “Youth Room”) with couches, bean bags, Nintendo, etc. We usually have a parent volunteer to provide dinner each week.

SWC YTH helps our youth explore the depths of the Bible, ask and answer big questions about life, building meaningful relationships, and discover what a life with God looks like as you grow up. Our pastor Zane and his wife Jessie co-lead SWC YTH.
